In 1995 Mary combined
her love of cooking and business by opening The
Cook’s Warehouse. Under Mary’s leadership
the business has rapidly expanded to include
a cooking school with over 150 classes per quarter
taught by guest chefs in four kitchens. The
retail store on Amsterdam Avenue has doubled
in size from the original store. The Cook's
Warehouse now offers a mail order catalog, website
shopping, and a quarterly newsletter.
In the spring of 2002, Moore opened her second
retail location and cooking school in Atlanta's
Brookhaven neighborhood. The new location
is shared with Sherlock's Wine Merchant, enabling
Moore to offer the finest in cooking and wine
to a dedicated customer base. The partnership
is the first of its kind in the Atlanta area. In
addition to featuring the finest in cookware,
kitchen appliances and unique gadgets, the Brookhaven
store boasts a fine selection of artisan wine
from around the world and a beautiful wine bar.
In the fall of 2005, Moore opened her third
retail location in the downtown area of the city
of Decatur. The new location is a partnership
between her, Doug Bryant – owner of Sherlock’s
Wine Merchant, and Craig Maske – General
Manager of Sherlock’s Wine Merchant. As
with the Brookhaven store, this location offers
the finest in cookware, kitchen accessories and
appliances and unique gadgets, as well as hand-picked
artisan wines and cooking classes.
In the spring of 2006, Moore re-launched Cookswarehouse.com
to include a full retail section. Web offerings
include top brands of cookware, cutlery, kitchen
electrics, and gadgets as well as new, unique
and local products.
In addition to leading the store, Moore is a
guest teacher of cooking classes. She has
made television appearances on WXIA, the local
NBC affiliate, Good Day Atlanta, the local Fox
affiliate, the local PBS affiliate, and co-hosted
segments of Home Plate with Marvin Woods on Turner
South. She works as food stylist and hand
model for film productions and her television
credits include multiple national commercials,
the GPTV Julia Child and Burt Wolf production
and “Nathalie DuPree Entertains”,
a PBS series. She recently filmed cooking
demonstrations for "Southern Living Presents" on
Turner South and was talent on a commercial for
Duke’s mayonnaise. Mary is a member
of the International Association of Culinary
Professionals, the President of the Atlanta Chapter
of Les Dames d’Escoffier, a board member
of Atlanta’s Table, a Division of the Atlanta
Community Food Bank, and a member of the American
Institute of Wine and Food.
